The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved the GST Bill on Tuesday even before introducing it in the approaching assembly session with an aim to roll out the new tax regime from July 1. The decision was taken at the fifth cabinet meeting of the state government.

The meeting was presided over by CM Yogi Adityanath. In another significant decision, all manual tendering will be removed in Uttar Pradesh within the next three months. The manual tendering will be replaced by e-tendering and e-procurement method, said state government spokesperson, health minister Siddharth Nath Singh.

He also added that Uttar Pradesh Day will be celebrated on January 24 – the day of its formation from now onwards. The celebrations are essential for giving a strong identity to the state, the minister said.

The state cabinet has also agreed upon the transfer policy 2017-18 for government officials and staff. Under this, transfers can only happen till June 30. Officials and staff who are on one post for a long time will also be re-jigged soon, he said.
