Candidate turns up to SSC exam hall with ‘fake finger’

In a bizarre incident, a fake candidate was arrested for turning up to the SSC exam centre with a ‘fake finger’. This dummy candidate who appeared with the ‘fake finger’ was caught at the examination hall on Saturday when his false finger fell on the ground during biometric attendance. The candidate was immediately arrested as the SSC officer at the centre called the police. He carried a fake finger, admit card and other forged documents.

The person has been identified as Vikrant, a resident of Modinagar in Ghaziabad. He was at the exam centre to give the test in the name of Sachin, a resident of Sonipat.

There are turn-wise biometric checking initiated by the authority on various floors as the students enter respective exam halls. Vikrant was caught while on such a check when he dropped his ‘fake finger’. The officials found a driving license in his name and address while the name and address on the admit card was a different person. On further enquiry, he admitted to the crime and was then nabbed by the police.

Notably, Staff Selection Commission is a Combined Graduate Level Examination, often referred to as SSC CGL is an examination conducted to recruit staff to various posts in ministries, departments and organisations of the Government of India. In an official notice, Staff Selection Commission said about 3.8 million candidates have applied for the exam in 2017.
