To put an end to copying in board exams in Uttar Pradesh next year, the Yogi Adityanath-led state government has decided to allow only CCTV-equipped schools to become examination centres.

The state government also has decided to ask schools that school bus drivers and other staff should be hired only after police verification.

Deputy chief minister, Dinesh Sharma, who also happens to be the minister for secondary education, said that this year, the examination centres will be decided through a transparent online process so that no allegations are levelled.

“Only the schools which are equipped with CCTV cameras will be allowed to become board examination centres,” he said.

He was addressing district inspectors of schools through video-conferencing. He issued directives to the district inspectors to carry out inspections and submit a report on whether a school qualifies to be an examination centre.

Instructions were also issued that in order to ensure safety of children, bus drivers and fourth class employees should be appointed only after police verification, the UP government statement added.
