After getting his way with Reserve Bank of India governor Raghuram Rajan, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy is going after chief economic advisor Arvind Subramanian. “Sack him!!!” read his tweet this morning.

According to sources in the government his remarks will have no bearing on the outcome of the new RBI governor. Other officials believe Swamy is attempting to test the patience of the BJP-led government, reports NDTV.

Incidentally, Swamy’s tweets coincide with a Bloomberg News survey which lists Arvind as the prime candidate to take the place of the central bank chief. There are five candidates in the running; the decision will be taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and finance minister Arun Jaitley.

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh responded to this development by tweeting, “Subramaniam Swami now guns for Arvind Subramanian Economic Advisor to NDA. Target is (Finance Minister) Arun Jaitley not Arvind Subramanian.”

Swamy had earlier targeted RBI governor Raghuram Rajan, by saying he is “mentally not fully Indian” to hold the post. He accused him of “deliberately” attempting to wreck the Indian economy.

On Sunday, Rajan put Rexit—Rajan’s exit—speculations to rest by announcing that he will return to academics after the completion of his three-year tenure in September. “I want to share with you that I will be returning to academia when my term as Governor ends on September 4, 2016,” he wrote in a circular to RBI staff.
