The most anticipated trailer of Deepika Padukone‘s Chhapaak is finally out. Deepika essays role of acid attack survivor, which is based on the real-life of Laxmi Agarwal, the film.
The film is helmed by Meghna Gulzaar and it is making headlines ever since the first look of Deepika as Malti was out. She looks unrecognizable in her new look for the film.
Right from the prosthetics to the body language to the intensity with which Deepika, as Malti is emoting in every next frame, is so gripping that it’s sure to leave a long-lasting impact on you.
In the trailer, you can also see Vikrant Massey playing his part, that of Laxmi’s partner, social activist Alok Dixit, so commendably.
Check out the trailer:
For the uninitiated, In 2005, when a long-time stalker and a man twice Laxmi’s age, had thrown a beer bottle loaded with acid on her for rejecting his advances. Laxmi had to go for multiple surgeries but more than the physical damage, it was the emotional and mental trauma that made it difficult for her to live life peacefully. However, Laxmi didn’t give up and instead decided to carry out an extensive campaign against the sale of acid in India and offering affordable treatment to survivors.
Chhapaak also marks Deepika’s debut as a producer and we believe. The film is slated to release on January 10, 2020.
