UP CM Yogi Adityanath empathising with the drinking water crisis in the Bundelkhand region, approved Rs 47 crore packages on Sunday to ensure immediate availability relief. Ensuring that the people of the region will not suffer from this unfortunate crisis, he said that government will take necessary steps to provide funds.

“Adityanath is also expected to visit the region this month,” an UP government spokesperson said.  The UP CM said that Budelkhand was continuously ignored in the last 15 years and no steps had been taken to make sure that there is development in the situation of the region.

“Now, the state government will make all efforts to ensure the development of the region in a planned manner,” the spokesperson said quoting the Chief Minister. UP government has been criticised for not making amendments in favour of the people suffering from the crisis of drinking water in Bundelkhand.

In April 2016, the Centre had said that farmers in Bundelkhand will get Rs 1,304 crore for drought relief under National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF).
