Comcast Data Breach Settlement 2026: Comcast customers who got a notice about the October 2023 data breach may be able to get money from the $117.5 million settlement in Hasson v. Comcast Cable Communications LLC. The settlement website says people are included if they were sent a notice around December 18, 2023 saying their personal information may have been compromised.

Reports also say about 31.7 million customers may be in the group because they were individually notified after the breach. Comcast says it did nothing wrong, but it agreed to the deal to finish the case.

The breach happened between October 16 and October 19, 2023, and Comcast made it public in December 2023. News reports say the exposed data included

  • Usernames
  • Passwords
  • Contact details
  • Birth dates
  • Partial Social Security numbers

Who can Claim?

There are a few ways eligible customers may get benefits. The first path is reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses tied to the breach. People can claim things like bank records, credit card statements, invoices, phone bills, or receipts to support those losses. The second path is payment for lost time. The settlement says that can be paid at $30 per hour for up to five hours. The third path is an alternative cash payment, which is estimated at about $50, though the final amount can change based on how many claims are approved.

The settlement website also says class members get automatic identity help after the deal becomes final. That includes three years of identity defense and restoration services, with tools like credit monitoring, dark web monitoring, alerts, insurance, and help if something looks suspicious. People do not need to file a claim just to get that automatic benefit.

How to File?

The official settlement site now says the deadlines were extended. The current claims deadline is September 14, 2026. The opt-out deadline and the objection deadline are both July 1, 2026. The final approval hearing is set for August 5, 2026. Claims can be filed online or by mail, and the site also has an ID Look Up Form for people who need help finding their claim information.

People who think they qualify but cannot find their notice information can use the settlement site’s ID Look Up Form. Recent reporting says some customers were sent a class member ID with their notice, and that ID can be used while filing a claim. Payments will only go out after final approval and after any appeals are finished, so the money is not arriving before the legal wheels stop spinning.
