The Crime Branch of the Odisha Police has begun a probe into an occurrence of communal violence last week in Bhadrak where curfew was reimposed till Monday morning. The curfew, which was first imposed on Friday, was relaxed from 8am to 11am on Sunday.  While it was extended till noon to let people to procure necessary commodities, was reimposed and will remain in force till Monday morning.

The condition of the region is alarming with nearly 35 platoons of police forces being deployed across the town to evade any unpleasant incident.  The Crime Branch has already begun the probe into the case of alleged aggressive remarks on Hindu deities on social media. The incident led to unrest in the city on Thursday and Friday.

Union home minister Rajnath Singh and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik talked over the situation on Sunday, said sources.  “We have sent five companies of the paramilitary personnel to Odisha so far. Two of them are riot controlling Rapid Action Battalion,” said a senior home ministry official.
