Congress, AIUDF have ‘unholy nexus’ in Assam: Ram Madhav

Guwahati, March 24 (IANS) BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav on Sunday said that there is an “unholy nexus” between the Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) in Assam but the state’s people will reject it.

Adressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters here, he said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting in 18 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the northeast while the rest have been left for their allies.

“The Congress does not have the courage and strength to face the BJP. That is the reason they are having an unholy alliance with the AIUDF,” he said adding that the BJP alliance in the region will do good in the Lok Sabha polls.

About the Assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh, the senior BJP leader said that the state will soon have an elected BJP government for the first time. Assembly and Lok Sabha polls will be held simultaneously in Arunachal Pradesh on April 11.

“There is a strong ‘Modi wave’ like 2014 across the country. So the BJP is going to the voters with the report card of five years of governance of the BJP government at the Centre and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP is going to form the next government at the Centre,” he said adding that the opposition is “clueless”.

Asked about some of the BJP’s alliance partners are contesting the polls separately, Ram Madhav said that it is their decision and the BJP welcomes that.

“They have decided to contest the polls separately and we welcome their decision and wish them luck. However, they are partners of NEDA or NDA and after the elections, they will join the alliance,” he added.
