Congress allots portfolios to its Ministers; MB Patil replaces Parameswara as Home Minister

CongressKarnataka in-charge KC Venugopal has released an official list of Ministers with their suggested portfolios and submitted it to the chief minister HD Kumaraswamy.

Writing a letter to the Chief Minister, General Secretary Venugopal said that “the following ministers should be assigned portfolios as suggested.”

As per the notice, senior Congress leader and Babaleshwar MLA MB Patil has been chosen as the new Home Minister of Karnataka. Till now, the Home Ministry was held by Deputy CM G Parameswara.

Congress strongman in North Karnataka and MLA of Babaleshwar – MB Patil, a member of the Lingayat community was kept out of the cabinet earlier in June.

Patil, who had spearheaded the movement for a separate Lingayat religion ahead of the Karnataka Assembly elections was sidelined after the results were announced.

However, Venugopal held meetings with state Congress leaders and even Congress president Rahul Gandhi to discuss allocation of portfolios and get his nod.
