In a key organisational shake-up, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed Gaurav Gogoi as the new President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, effective immediately.
Joining him in leadership are three newly named Working Presidents: Jakir Hussain Sikdar, Roselina Tirkey, and Pradip Sarkar.

The move comes as the Congress seeks to strengthen its state unit ahead of upcoming political challenges in Assam, where regional dynamics and party reorganisation will play a crucial role. Gogoi, a prominent face of the party and son of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, is expected to bring fresh energy to the state leadership.
