In a shocking statement and days after the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, minister of drinking water and sanitation, Uma Bharti on Thursday has said that only Congress has benefitted from the killing of Gandhi as Gandhi wanted to finish Congress.
“Gandhi ji ki hatya ka fayda sirf Congress ko hua kyunki Gandhi ji Congress ko disperse karne wale they,” she said. “Gandhi ki hatya bhaley Godse ne ki ho lekin Godse ko bhadkaane ka kaam kisne kiya?” she asked.
“I want to ask the people of the country, who benefitted from the death of Gandhi? The RSS suffered and so did the country but it was the Congress which benefitted,” Bharti told media in a controversial statement. “Everyone knows that Gandhi wanted to disband the Congress (after independence)… so, it was the Congress that benefitted from his death,” she added.
Her statement comes just before the dates of the assembly polls in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are likely to be declared.
