The Rajasthan Congress on Friday met Governor Kalyan Singh and demanded a CBI probe into the murder of dairy farmer Pehlu Khan in Alwar by the cow vigilantes.

55-year-old Pehlu Khan was beaten to death on April 1 in Rajasthan’s Alwar district by the self-proclaimed gaurakshaks onApril 1.

A delegation of Congress leaders, led by Rajasthan PCC chief Sachin Pilot handed over a memorandum to the Governor.

The other members of the delegation include Leader of Opposition in state assembly Ramesh Dudy, former Union minister Jitendra Singh, AICC secretary Zubair Khan, senior vice president PCC Gopal Shekhawat, former state minister Amaaduddin Ahmed Khan and Alwar district Congress chief Tikaram, besides other party leaders from Alwar, Indian Express reported.

Earlier, controversial Hindu leader Sadhvi Kamal had equated the cow vigilantes to freedom fighters such as Bhagat Singh or Chandrasekhar Azad and called them future heroes.

None of the six named in the FIR, based on Pehlu Kan’s statement before his death, have been arrested.
