Ex-Congress leader Shankarsinh Vaghela resigns as member of Gujarat legislative assembly

Veteran leader, Shankarsinh Vaghela resigned as a member of Gujarat legislative assembly on Wednesday. He had already revolted against Congress party earlier and resigned from Congress party on July 21. Days after quitting Congress, the former chief minister of Gujarat resigned as the leader of opposition in the state Assembly. He has sent his resignation letter to party president, Sonia Gandhi.

The veteran leader in his resignation letter has said that some party leaders were conspiring against him ahead of the assembly polls. This forced him to take such a decision, he said.  The polls are expected to happen in the state in December.

The Congress leader had been confronting over the demand to be projected as the chief ministerial face in the poll-bound state. He had been saying that if he was projected as the CM face, the party would be able to take on the BJP effectively.
