Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi quits party

A day after publicly expressing her  unhappiness with the party, Congress’s national spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi quit the party.

Announcing her decision, Priyanka took to the Twitter and extended her gratefulness to each who stood by her when in need. She said, “I am absolutely overwhelmed and grateful with the love and support I have got across board from the nation in the past 3 days. I consider myself blessed with this immense outpouring of support. Thank you to all who have been a part of this journey.”

The move has come a day after she expressed her discontent over some UP party workers being reinstated in the party who she says misbehaved with her.

Chaturvedi hinted her decision when she removed ‘INC National Spokesperson’ designation from her Twitter bio. There was absolutely no mention of the Congress party in her Twitter description this morning.

Taking it to the Twitter on April 17, Chaturvedi had said, “Deeply saddened that lumpen goons get preference in Congress over those who have given their sweat&blood. Having faced brickbats and abuse across the board for the party but yet those who threatened me within the party getting away with not even a rap on their knuckles is unfortunate.”

In September, local Congress leaders had allegedly misbehaved with Priyanka Chaturvedi while she was attending a press conference on the Rafale deal at Mathura. The Congress had initially removed them but recently, because of the elections and the need for local support, they were reportedly taken back. One of the workers was reportedly even named as a candidate.
