An Assistant Sub Inspector raped a mentally challenged woman in Tumkuru , Karnataka. The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has asked the cop to be arrested and dismissed from service. This is especially shocking as the Karnataka government has adopted a no-tolerance policy in crimes committed by the police.
This incident has added to more shame for the Siddaramaiah government which has been facing the complaints as several cases of women harassment come into light. The victim was wandering alone near her house when accused ASI Umesh spotted her and told her that he would drop her home. The accused, Umesh had even called the brother of the victim saying that he was dropping her home. An audio recording was also handed over to the police later.
CM Siddaramaiah has come down with a firm hand asking all senior officers to adopt a no-tolerance attitude towards such incidents.
