A constable in Madhya Pradesh saved lives of nearly 400 school kids by running away with 10 kg bomb tucked in his arms. Identified as Abhishek Patel, the head constable found unexploded artillery shell near a school in Chitora village of Sagar district, in MP. He saved several lives with his prompt action and immense courage.

Patel later told media that his aim was to remove artillery far from the kids and residential areas.  Reportedly, around 400 children were present in the school when the incident happened on Friday morning.

A teacher reportedly said that an official saw the bomb and instantly asked them shut the school. “We asked the students to leave at once,” a teacher said.

In no time, bomb disposal squad arrived at the location. However, it was Patel who put the effort and went on to run 1 km with the bomb.

Patel said a similar incident happened a few months ago when he was part of a police operation. He said if the bomb would have exploded, it would have smashed a radius of 500 meters. Inspector general of police, Satish Saxena declared a reward for Patel for showing exemplary courage.
