Coronavirus in Bihar and Jharkhand Live updates: With 90 new coronavirus cases, the total number COVID-19 cases in Bihar has surged to 3275, 918 people have been recovered and death toll stands at 15 so far. All 38 districts of the state are infected by the virus.
Jharkhand has reported 18 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total to 477. There are 260 active cases in the state at present, while 213 people have been discharged after recovering from the disease. The death toll of the state stands at 4. Of the total cases, 279 were detected among migrant workers who returned from outside the state. Total 97,450 people are in various quarantine centres across the state and 2,52,168 are undergoing home isolation.
Shramik trains are running across the country to help migrants reach their home states. As migrant workers are returning to Bihar and Jharkhand from other states on Shramik Special trains, the coronavirus cases are gradually spiking up in the states. From last week, the maximum number of COVID-19 patients have been found among migrant workers who returned from different states.
Jharkhand has become the first state to bring back it’s migrants via a special chartered plane.
The first batch of 180 migrants from Jharkhand, stranded in Mumbai for over two months due to the coronavirus lockdown, were brought to Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi. The alumni network of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, along with NGOs and activists who have leased an AirAsia aircraft to shift 180 migrant workers who hail from various districts of Jharkhand. This is the first time where a group of private individuals have raised funds to lease a chartered plane and rescue stranded migrant workers.
Meanwhile, the registration for employment has been started in Bihar. Migrant labourers are registered through employment portal at quarantine centres. According to the reports, Bihar Government will provide employment to the migrant labourers within the state.
India’s Covid-19 count has crossed the 1.6 lakh mark and a total of 4,706 people have lost their lives due to the infection. With this, India climbed to the ninth spot among countries with the highest Covid-19 caseloads.

Villagers allegedly pelted stones on police officials when the police were taking two coronavirus positive patients to an isolation ward on Friday in Sitamarhi district, Bihar. To handle the villagers, police officials started a mild lathicharge and aerial firing. Outraged villagers damaged the police van.
Thieves broke into Bamdah Gramin Bank in Chandramandah police station area, Jamui and stolen 50,000 properties breaking the shutter lock. Rural Bank branch manager Dinesh Kumar said, the thieves stole four monitors, a CPO, cctv cameras and other items from the bank. The case has been reported at the police station of the area.

Bihar RJD leader demanded action within two days against JD (U) MLA from Kuchaikote Amrendra Kumar Pandey alias Pappu Pandey in Gopalganj district for his alleged involvement in the firing in which three people were killed and an RJD activist sustained grievous injuries on Sunday evening or he will he would go to Gopalganj himself. They are likely to get arrested for violating the lockdown rules and visiting Gopalganj.

Under the Lohia Path Chakra Construction area in Bailey Road Patna, 3 children have died as concrete slabs fell on them. Around 8-10 concrete slabs were placed at the site. The children were found playing near the slabs before the incident.
A coronavirus suspected child died at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences(RIMS), suffering from pneumonia. Hindpidhi COVID-19 suspected people are admitted to RIMS.
