Coronavirus in Mumbai: NCP corporator Mukund Keni succumbs to Covid-19

National Congress Party(NCP) corporator, Mukund Keni, who was the corporator of Kalwa under the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC)succumbed to coronavirus on Tuesday night.

A 58-year-old senior National Congress Party(NCP) corporator, Mukund Keni, who was the corporator of Kalwa under the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) succumbed to coronavirus on Tuesday night.

The corporator had tested coronavirus positive 14 days ago and was put on ventilator support at a private hospital in Mumbai. 

An NCP worker said, “Keni had gone to a hospital to assist a Covid-19 positive patient and two days later he developed symptoms such as fever. Initially, he was admitted to a private hospital in Thane, but later was shifted to Mumbai after he tested Covid-19 positive. He was suffering from comorbid conditions such as diabetes and blood sugar and was put on a ventilator support the day he was admitted to the private hospital in Mumbai”.

Keni is survived by his wife Pramila Keni, son, daughter-in-law, and grandsons.

On Tuesday, a 55-year-old Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) who had tested positive for Covid-19 also died. According to the BMC, the official was positioned in the water supply department. He was the first high-ranking BMC official who died of Covid-19. On Monday, senior Shiv Sena leader from the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation Harishchandra Amgaonkar too passed away due to the novel coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Thane on Tuesday, reported 145 new cases. At present, 2,267 patients are undergoing treatment while 1947 have been recovered and discharged from the hospital.
