Today is the hundredth day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown, to curb the novel coronavirus pandemic. India is the fourth most affected nation in world, and has so far recorded 6,04,641 cases, which includes 17,834 deaths. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat have reported the highest number of cases.

The approval process was fast-tracked following recommendation by the subject expert committee on COVID-19, considering the emergency and unmet medical need during the pandemic.

The union health ministry, meanwhile, has revised the home isolation guidelines to include asymptomatic positive patients in the list of mild or pre-symptomatic coronavirus infection cases.

Mexico posts record daily coronavirus tally to overtake Iran

Mexico posted a record daily tally of coronavirus infections on Thursday, as 6,741 cases carried the overall figure to 238,511, according to the health ministry. The new figure pushed Mexico past Iran to 10th place among nations with the largest number of cases, a Reuters tally showed. India's COVID-19 tally rises to 6.25 lakh; death toll at 18,213

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in India have risen to 6,25,544, which includes 18,213 deaths, the Union Health Ministry said in it's latest update. 

Out of the total number of infections, 2,27,439  are active cases and 3,79,891 have recovered.

"It is envisaged to launch the vaccine for public health use latest by 15th August 2020 after completion of all clinical trials.
