Coronavirus: UP Police records statement of singer Kanika Kapoor, asks 40 questions

Trouble seems to be not ending for Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor, who was recently discharged from a hospital after testing negative for coronavirus, as she now got a notice from the Lucknow Police. The notice was pasted at her residence situated at Shalimar Gallant in Mahanagar area of the state capital.

The notice has been served to the Bollywood singer asking her to record her statement. According to Investigating Officer (IO) JP Singh, her statement will be recorded on April 30 for which the legal process has begun.

She has been charged under IPC Section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and Section 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the IPC.

The singer will have to have to visit the police station in person to record her statement. “She will have to give her written statement and further action will be taken after this,” Deepak Kumar Singh, ACP, Krishna Nagar said.

Kanika Kapoor booked on charges of negligence

Three FIRs have been registered against Kapoor on charges of negligence as she attended several social events despite being infected with COVID-19 and asked by the authorities to self-quarantine herself.

She had returned from London on March 9 and met hundreds of people in Lucknow.

The notice has been issued to the Bollywood singer a day after she took to Instagram to express her gratitude towards the frontline soldiers and health workers who treated her.

She wrote, “am at home in Lucknow spending some quality time with my parents. Every person that I have come in contact with, be it in UK, Mumbai or Lucknow has shown no symptoms of COVID-19. In fact, all those tested have been negative.”
