This morning, a new poster of PM Narendra Modi film was unveiled along with the new release date of May 24. Just moments after it, the lead actor of the film Vivek Oberoi created an unnecessary controversy. He shared a meme on his Twitter page that made fun of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan.

In no time, the actor started getting trolled massively and even celebrities expressed outrage on social media. Amongst them were Sonam Kapoor, Madhur Bhandarkar, Urmila Matondkar who made their disappointment evident. Next, the National Commission for Women sent a notice to the actor for his derogatory comment involving a woman and a child.

Vivek Oberoi: People are saying apologise, I have no problem in apologising, but tell me what wrong have I done? If I have done something wrong I will apologise. I don’t think I have done anything wrong. What’s wrong in it? Somebody tweeted a meme and I laughed at it.

Now, Vivek Oberoi has defended himself. The actor who’s in Delhi for a special screening of the Modi biopic has said, “React a little on things like this, don’t make it political please. This is life. People move on. Not a single obscene comment was there. I am ever ready to say sorry. But tell me what wrong have I done? The story happened and it’s everywhere in media for ages. So it’s nothing like I am claiming something. I just forwarded it. Let woman commission come. I will also clarify.

How much have people like Sonam Kapoor who criticized me worked for women empowerment? I am working for the empowerment of abused women for ages. Sonam was more busy with her makeover.” He also added that Sonam should overact less in her films and not overreact on social media.

The Maharashtra Commission Of Women and the National Commission of Women are planning to take an action against the actor, but he still remains unapologetic. We can only say, get well soon, Vivek.
