Delhi: Disabled man commits suicide outside Andhra Bhawan amid Chandrababu Naidu’s protest

In a shocking incident, a disabled man from Andhra Pradesh allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison outside Andhra Bhawan during the protest called by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu demanding special state status.

As per the several media reports, incident took place on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) informed the police about an unidentified body lying near the footpath of Jaswant SinghRoad.

The deceased was identified as Davala Arjun Rao, a resident of Kinthali village in Srikakulam district. He had come to Delhi to participate in the day-long hunger strike by Chandrababu Naidu.

A two-page suicide note written in Telugu was recovered from his possession stating his financial condition as the reason for the suicide.

Proceedings have been initiated and further inquiry is in progress. The body has been preserved in mortuary and will be sent for post-mortem after the family reaches Delhi.

More details awaited in the matter.

Naidu is on a strike to demand special status for his state and fulfilment of commitments made by the Centre under the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.
