Delhi police files case against TTV Dinakaran for offering bribe to EC

Troubles for Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dinakaran doesn’t seems to end, as Delhi’s crime branch has registered a case against him on Monday for attempting to bribe Election Commission (EC) for the AIADMK’s symbol.

Considering the split in the party, the EC froze the two leaves symbol of the AIADMK lately.

The police action comes following an arrest of an alleged middleman, Sukesh Chandrasekhar on Sunday night. At least Rs 1.3 crore was recovered from Chandrasekhar that he was planning to use as a bribe to EC officials.

Nearly, Rs 50 crores was to be paid as bribe, said police. Notably, an FIR has been registered under Section 8 of the Prevention of the Corruption Act.

Dinakaran is considered to be a close aide of Sasikala. He will be served notice to join the probe.

The accused had been picked up from Hyatt hotel on a tip off. “He will be produced before either magistrate,” PRO Madhur Verma.

Reportedly, joint commissioner Praveer Ranjan formed a special team to probe this high-profile case. The case against Dinakaran comes even as a crisis looms in the state government with ministers revolting against him. They are seeking his resignation as party deputy general secretary.
