Heavy showers and waterlogging brought Delhi and other parts of the national capital region to a standstill on Wednesday morning.
United States Secretary of State John Kerry, who is in the capital, was among the thousands who were affected by the Delhi showers.
His proposed visit to three religious sites in the city was cancelled, and his lecture at IIT-Delhi was delayed by almost an hour after he got stuck in a massive traffic jam.
Kerry who had waited for over an hour for his lecture at IIT to begin, joked about the heavy downpour during his interaction with the students.

“You guys deserve an award for being able to get here today. I don’t know if you came in boats, don’t know if you took amphibious boats, but I salute you for being here,” Kerry told the students at the institute.
