Delhi: Wanted criminal nabbed near Nehru Place; 2 cops injured in gunfire

A fierce gun battle took place between police and criminals near Nehru Place metro station in south Delhi on Monday morning following a dramatic chase. As per a report in TOI, the sources said that about 13 rounds were fired in the encounter.

Notably, two policemen were injured. However, police sources confirmed that casualty was prevented as the officials were wearing the bullet proof vests.

While the two criminals fired 8 rounds, police fired 5 rounds in retaliation.

Later, the two accused have been identified as Akbar and Shahid. Akbar was trapped by the police, but Shahid managed to escape.

Earlier, the police commissioner in the past declared a reward of Rs 25,000 on Akbar.

The police intercepted both of them near Eros hotel and trailed them till the place of firing.

As per the police, the duo had earlier opened fire near Prahaladpur area.
