A four-year old died on a bank’s premises while her father was waiting in a queue in front of an ATM for her treatment in Banda in Uttar Pradesh.
Dharmendra Varma had been trying for few days to withdraw money from the ATM for his daughter’s treatment, PTI reported.
Dharmendra’s daughter was diagnosed with fever.
On Monday, he brought the child to the bank and was standing in the long queue to withdraw money to go to hospital.
Police started inquiry on the incident.
The locals, frustrated by the child’s death, placed the dead body on the Banda-Fatehpur road and disrupted the vehicular traffic for a long time.
In another incident, a 65 year old man was trampled to death outside a bank while standing in a queue to withdraw cash.
According to police, Ramnath Kushwaha was trampled by a crowd who had gathered to withdraw cash from an SBI ATM.
The man had gone to the ATM to withdraw money for his pregnant daughter-in-law’s hospital payment.
Till date, more than 65 people died in various places across the country as a result of the unplanned demonetisation move implemented by government on November 8.
