Dhar’s response came after enthusiastic fan posts pouring praise on the first Dhurandhar which has been captivating audiences and dominating box office conversations since its December 2025 release. Sharing such fan love and affirming that there’s no change to the date, Dhar’s tone conveyed both gratitude and steady confidence.

It’s rare that two major films lock horns so early in the calendar year, but that’s exactly what’s shaping up for March. Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic starring Yash are now set for a direct box office face-off on March 19.

The veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, however, did not only go one step further but also came up with a new term “Dhuroxic” to refer to the event. Through his remarks, Varma not only addressed the rivalry in the market but also termed it as a duel between the two genres of realistic and non-realistic films, accentuating the fact that both films are highly different in their respective creative ways.

Final Release Date

March 19 is certainly not an ordinary date for the release of a film. It is the first Eid weekend of the year and thereby a great opportunity for the celebration of Gudi Padwa and Ugadi as well, which are holidays that still today cause a big increase in the number of cinema-goers in India.

The reactions from the industry have already begun to come in slowly. Reportedly another major title, Ajay Devgn’s Dhamaal 4, has moved its release to May 2026 to avoid the competitive March window, thus indicating the commercial strength of both Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic that they could easily command great respect.

Director’s Stand

Aditya Dhar has remained down to earth even though there is an overwhelming hype and pressure that come with the dual release. By confirming Dhurandhar 2 will not budge from its March 19 release, Dhar’s message to fans and competitors was clear: the sequel will arrive as planned.

Taking to his Instagram story, Dhar responded to a post which read, “I think it’s been more than a week since I went to watch Dhurandhar for a second time in the theatre, and honestly, I’m still obsessed with it, and I still feel like watching it again and again. Every single frame is like art, and the choices of songs and bgm are just perfection!! I genuinely don’t remember when the last time was that I was so obsessed with a Bollywood movie before Dhurandhar. @ranveersingh Man, you were just fabulous. On screen it genuinely feels like I was watching Hamza rather than Ranveer himself, and Akshay Khanna-I don’t even know what to say about that performance; it was a feast to viewers like us. @rampal72 We already seen the glimpse of your performance maybe it wasn’t long but that glimpse is already setting the bar so high!!! @adityadharfilms You are truly a GOAT director, sir. Expecting a lot from Dhurandhar Part 2!! India is blessed to have a director like you (sic).”

There’s no panic, no shifting landscape; just a belief in the project’s creative strength and its ability to stand alongside other big films on the same day.
