Advance Booking War

The outcome of Day 1 was largely foreshadowed by advance booking trends.

Dhurandhar 2 recorded exceptional pre-sales not just in India but also overseas, even crossing $1 million in premiere bookings in international markets.

In contrast, Ustaad Bhagat Singh relied more on spot bookings and walk-in audiences especially in smaller centres highlighting the difference in audience behavior between the two industries.

No “Direct Competition”?

Interestingly, Ustaad Bhagat Singh director Harish Shankar had earlier downplayed the clash, stating that both films cater to different audiences and can coexist at the box office.

“Aditya Dhar is a superior filmmaker. We are not really competing on a pan-India level. Also, the release date is not in my hands”, Harish Shankar said.

And Day 1 results seem to support that claim both films are succeeding, just in very different markets.
