It was Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s birthday on Thursday. He turned 50 on August 16. Following the deteriorating condition of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Kejriwal had announced to not to celebrate his birthday. Although a picture doing rounds on social media about the CM’s birthday celebrations suggests something else. According to the picture and a description with it, Kejriwal celebrated his birthday after the demise of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

However, a clock hanging on the wall behind Arvind Kejriwal in the picture proves a completely different version of the story.

The picture of Arvind Kejriwal cutting a cake on his 50th birthday has a wall in the frame. Kejriwal stands behind the wall and the time in the clock hanging on the wall can be seen clearly. Atal Bihari Vajpayee died in the evening of August 16 whereas, the clock shows that it was morning.

Social Media Strategist of Aam Aadmi Party Ankit Lal has tweeted to reply the trolls over social media making fuzz out of Arvind Kejriwal’s birthday celebration photo. He writes, “I do not expect much from bhakts, but at least don’t politicise the demise of a politician who rose above politics to practice ‘rajya dharm’.

According to Ankit Lal, quite a few AAP MLAs and party workers had gathered at the Chief Minister’s residence since 08:00 AM in the morning. Kejriwal had cut the cake with them. Later when a medical bulletin mentioned about the worsening health of Atal  Bihar Vajpayee, Kejriwal said that he is not feeling like celebrating his birthday, so no celebration will take place hereafter. After this, he left for AIIMS hospital to visit Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He also asked people to donate for the flood victims of Kerala.
