Diwali-Chhath Vande Bharat Specials: With Diwali and Chhath coming soon, thousands of passengers travel to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, and tickets usually get sold out fast. To make travel easier the Indian Railways announced 2 special Vande Bharat Express trains between New Delhi and Patna. Officials said this step will help passengers travel safely and comfortably during the busy festival season. The new trains will run from October 11 to November 17, 2025, giving smooth connectivity between the national capital and Patna which is the capital of Bihar.
New Delhi to Patna Vande Bharat Special Train: Check Route, Stops and Timing
Railways officials explained that these special trains reflect their commitment to passenger convenience and will help reduce travel problems during high demand. Passengers who usually struggle to get tickets during festivals will now have more options and faster trains to reach home for celebrations.
Two pairs of trains, 02252/02251 and 02254/02253, will operate on the New Delhi–Patna route. Train 02252 will leave New Delhi every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday starting October 11, while the return train 02251 will leave Patna every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Similarly to that 02253 will follow the same schedule from New Delhi, and 02254 will run back from Patna on the same days. Each pair will make 16 round trips, covering all festival travel days.
The trains will start from New Delhi at 8:35 AM, stopping at Aligarh, Kanpur, Prayagraj, and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction before reaching Patna at 9:30 PM. On the return, the train leaves Patna at 10:00 AM, halting at Ara, Buxar, Mughalsarai and other stations, reaching New Delhi at 11:30 PM.

The Chair Car ticket will cost ₹2,595, while the Executive Class will be ₹4,675. Both include meals, tea, and snacks, so passengers can enjoy a comfortable and convenient journey. These special Vande Bharat trains are expected to make festival travel faster and more reliable for families traveling home.
