DJB Water tanker scam: ACB to interrogate Sheila Dikshit, Arvind Kejriwal

The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Monday filed an FIR in the ₹400 crore water tanker scam of Delhi Jal Board (DJB). The ACB will interrogate “both” Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and former chief minister Sheila Dikshit. ACB chief MK Meena said they received two complaints, one from Delhi’s water minister Kapil Mishra and another from BJP leader Vijender Gupta.

“On the basis of their complaints, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act and both of them will be quizzed in coming days if it’s important for the case,” Meena said.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, while reacting to the registration of the FIR, posted a series of tweets, saying “Prime Minister Narendra, you did not file an FIR against Robert Vadra, you didn’t file FIR against Sonia Gandhi. You didn’t file FIR in any of the scams you raked up to become PM.”

The Delhi chief minister said he welcomed the FIR and asserted, “All probe agencies are under you. You’ve left the CBI, police, and the ACB after me…. Conducted CBI raid on me, but did not find anything… I’m glad you’ve finally accepted that your fight is directly with me.” The chief minister also tweeted that he wasn’t scared of Modi’s ‘CBI and ACB’.

A few days back, Delhi government had forwarded a report of a fact-finding committee on the ‘scam’ to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.

BJP leader Gupta had also written to Jung, accusing Kejriwal of “suppressing” the committee’s report for 11 months. Later, Jung sent the committee’s report as well as Gupta’s complaint to the ACB.

Delhi Water Minister Mishra had written to PM Modi and Jung, last week, recommending either a CBI or ACB investigation against Dikshit in link with the scam.
