What Is Dol Purnima?
The Vaishnav festival of Dol Purnima which people also call Dol Jatra or Dol Utsav celebrates the deities Lord Krishna and Radha. The word “Dol” means swing because people used to display Radha and Krishna statues on decorated swings during traditional processions.

Although Dol Purnima and Holi occur on the same day, different regions of the world observe each festival through distinct customs.
In North India people associate Holi with the Prahlada legend which tells about his victory over evil through his triumph over Holika.
In eastern India people observe Dol Purnima through their devotion to Radha and Krishna and their practice of Vaishnav traditions. The celebration prioritizes devotional singing and spiritual festivities instead of playing games.
