The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is currently questioning actor Vijay Deverakonda about the funding of his Bollywood film ‘Liger.’

According to sources, he is being questioned in connection with an alleged FEMA violation.

The film, which starred Ananya Pandey and American boxing legend Mike Tyson, reportedly cost around 100 crore. However, it performed poorly at the box office.

The central agency is looking into the actor’s alleged payments and funding for a recent multilingual ‘Liger’ film. Previously, the agency spent nearly 12 hours investigating the film’s director, Puri Jagannath, and producer-actress Charmme Kaur.

Interestingly, the ED began looking into Liger’s money laundering case after Telangana leader Bakka Judson brought it to light. The politician filed a complaint alleging that money was pumped into the film through improbable means, and the ED launched an investigation as a result.

For the uninitiated, ‘Liger’ is a sports action drama shot primarily in the United States (Las Vegas) with a budget of over Rs 125 crores, starring ex-World Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson. However, the film bombed upon its initial release. As a result, despite being released as a Pan-India film, the film could only recoup half of its investments from its theatrical run in India.
