Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the currency ban decision of his successor Narendra Modi. He labelled the decision “a monumental management failure”.

Dr Singh, a renowned economist, opened the debate in the Rajya Sabha on demonetisation on behalf of his party.
Here’s a list of his top quotes from Rajya Sabha.

1. I do not disagree with these objectives, but there is monumental mismanagement of which there are no two opinions in the country as a whole.

2. The GDP of the country will decline by about 2 per cent by what has been done. And this is an underestimate and not an overestimate.

3. The PM has said wait 50 days, it is a short period, but for the poor and deprived, even 50 days can bring about disastrous effects.

4. Those who say demonetisation is good in the long run should recall the quote: “In the long run we are all dead”.

5. I hope that PM will help us find practical ways to give relief to people suffering.
