Ranchi: Once again Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, has been marred by controversies. A patient has lost his life after not getting an oxygen cylinder on time.

Upendra Yadav, a resident of Parihar, Garhwa, lost his life when he was undergoing treatment at the hospital. Doctor J K Mitra’s unit was handling Mr Paswan’s case. The relatives have blamed the authorities saying that while the patient was taken for the ultrasound, he died due to the lack of oxygen. They said that either the oxygen tank was empty or the button on it wasn’t turned on.

Such incidents of indifference and negligence have been taking place at the hospital for some time now. Due to the mistakes committed by doctors, nurses and ward boys, many patients have lost their lives.

The relatives of the deceased have filed a complaint to the superintendent of the hospital demanding him to inquire into the details of the case.

The medical superintendent, Dr Vivek Kashyap said that he has communicated to the medical officer regarding the investigation of the case. Later, the medical officer said, “the cylinder did not have a sufficient amount of oxygen in it. If anyone is found guilty, further investigation will take place. The case would also see if there has been any negligence at the hands of the nurse.”

An ambulance was arranged to carry the deceased’s body to Garhwa.
