True, there are, in fact, some! As Romesh explains, Aisling Bea (This Way Up) and Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter) join the cast as romantic interests for our couple.
“With Jonathan and Claire not going through a break-up this time, it allows for opportunities to push the show in different directions,” according to him.
We want to know how Claire would go about developing a romantic relationship with Matthew’s character, Brett. How might Jonathan approach the dating landscape? Furthermore, how might he attempt to gain Claire back at a PTA fundraiser?
So what’s happening in Avoidance season 2?
The narrative commences one year subsequent to the conclusion of the first season, in which Jonathan declines the chance to reestablish his romantic attachment with Claire (Kieran Logendra), the mother of his young son Spencer.
“At the end of series one, Claire asked Jonathan back but he said no, mainly because he thought they’d be better parents to their son Spencer living apart rather than being together,” according to Romesh.
“Series two picks up almost exactly a year from that, with Jonathan clearly regretting that decision and thinking of ways to try and impress Claire, who’s moving on with her life.”

How does he plan to do that?
Jonathan’s sister Dan (portrayed by Mandeep Dhillon) and her pregnant partner Courtney (played by Lisa McGrillis) advise him to seduce Claire at the forthcoming PTA charity event as an attempt to win her back. The outcome of this plan is amusing.
“This is Jonathan being forced into a moment of desperation where he does this ‘thing’ in a futile attempt to win Claire back,” according to Romesh.
“A truly romantic “crooney” song could have been selected, but that seemed apparent. Thus, we reasoned, “Imagine if this absolutely banging club track connects a crucial moment in Jonathan and Claire’s relationship!” “It was a lot of fun to film the first three or four times, but I don’t think anyone wanted to hear that song again by the end!”
Does Alex, the Son of Romesh, indeed make an appearance in this series?
It is! Alex portrays Kunal, an acquaintance of Spencer’s. Romesh elucidates the origin thereof.
“I don’t think Alex has aspirations of being an actor but he’s with a drama group and the teacher saw the casting details for Avoidance, thought the character description fitted somebody Alex could play, and accidentally put him forward for it,” according to Romesh.
It was enjoyable to have him on set. Nevertheless, we were documenting Jonathan’s “performance” at the fundraiser on that day. Alex exclaimed afterwards, “That was ABSOLUTELY humiliating!”
