In an appalling incident that took place on Tuesday morning, expired bread and butter were served for breakfast on Mumbai- Ahmedabad Shatabdi express.

As per a daily report, due to this, several passengers complained of uneasiness and some of the passengers were also vomiting.

Railway officials also confirmed the incident and said, “IRCTC officials have been suspended and the contractor has been served notice for termination of the contract.”The passengers were attended to by doctors after the train reached Surat station.

A Twitter user identified as Atul Rane shared photos of the bread with fungus served to them, saying ‘disgusting breakfast being served by the catering team of Shatabdi Express – 12009’.

“The staff deliberately served expired food products during the meals. It can’t get more pathetic than this. The authorities are absolutely not bothered about health issues,” he said.
