Windows phone users have been diminishing over time and due to which Facebook is planning tie end support some of its applications for the Windows smartphone.
Market reports suggest that Facebook may shut three popular apps Facebook, Instagram & Messenger by the end of the month from the Windows smartphone. It has also been confirmed by Microsoft spokesperson that Facebook would end support for Windows phone by April 30, 2019.
If Facebook ends support of its three applications then the Window phone users will have to depend on the third-party apps and mobile web versions like browsers for these applications but the official ones will not be available to them. As for now, it is not clear if WhatsApp will support this decision of ending with Windows or not as it is available on Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 versions only.
An initial report that was later backed by Microsoft states about the retirement of these three apps on the window phone. Reportedly, Microsoft will also be stopping the latest version of Windows 10 Mobile – 1709 by December this year. Moreover, the smartphones with Windows 10 1703 will stop receiving support from June itself. Some of the Windows phones have already lost support for many important apps.
Earlier Google has been shutting down several applications such as Google Allo, Google+, Inbox by Gmail. Now it seems Facebook is following the footsteps of Google in ending support from apps.
