Former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit is the next DPCC chief

After senior Congress leader Ajay Maken resigned from the post of Delhi’s Congress Chief citing health reasons, Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has been selected for the post.

Sources suggested that Delhi’s former Minister Yoganand Shastri was also in the race for the prestigious post.

In a meeting, Congress President Rahul Gandhi had accepted Maken’s resignation. The meeting was attended by Rahul Gandhi, Ajay Maken and Delhi Congress party affairs in-charge P C Chacko where Maken thanked Gandhi for his support.

Later, Maken took to Twitter to announce his resignation.

In the tweet said, “After the 2015 Delhi assembly elections, as its Delhi unit president I received a lot of love from Congress workers, the media covering the party and our leader Rahul Gandhiji. It was not easy in these difficult times. Thank you all,”.

Sheila Dikshit was the longest serving Chief Minister of Delhi. She served for a period of 15 years, from 1998 to 2013.
