Fresh attack on African national, now Kenyan woman thrashed in Greater Noida

Hardly two days after the attack on African nationals in Greater Noida, on Wednesday morning one more attack on a young Kenyan woman reported in Greater Noida.

The victim, identified by police as Maria Burendi (25). She alleged that she was beaten and kicked in the abdomen while she was travelling in a cab in Greater Noida’s Kasna area.

The police said that the incident took place around 4.30 am on Wednesday. Further explaining the details Greater Noida superintendent of police Sujata Singh told The Hindu that the incident occurred when victim was coming from Delhi to Greater Noida in Ola cab.

“The victim lives in Alstonia residential society in Greater Noida. A few meters away from Alstonia residential society, the cab was reportedly stopped by goons and victim was slapped,” Singh said.

“We are in touch with the victim. Once she gives written complaint, we will lodge an FIR. We have launched manhunt to nab the culprits. We are recovering CCTV footages of the spot,” she further said.The woman was taken to a hospital for a medical examination.

“There was no visible injury marks. She complained of abdomen pain. We took her for ultra sound. Her ultrasound report is normal. No major injury found,” doctor said.

Last week a 17-year-old boy Manish Khari died. He is suspected of drug overdose, and local people blamed African nationals, saying they had supplied him the drugs.

Following his death his family and supporters had organised a candle March in which protesters had turned violent and attacked on African nationals in the city.
