Gaya road rage: Rocky Yadav surrenders

Gaya road-rage accused Rakesh Ranjan alias Rocky Yadav on Saturday surrendered in a Bihar court, police said. “Rocky (Yadav), who arrived in Patna from Delhi on Saturday morning, surrendered in the Gaya Civil Court,” a police officer said. He was arrested on May 11 for fatally shooting 19-year-old Aditya Sachdeva over a matter of overtaking.

Rocky Yadav’s parents were also present in the court and a district official in Gaya said Rocky Yadav was absconding soon after the Supreme Court cancelled his bail on Friday.

His mother Manorama Devi is a suspended Janata Dal-United MLC. He was accused of fatally shooting student Aditya Sachdeva after his’s Swift car overtook Rocky Yadav’s Land Rover on May 7.

Blocking implementation of the Patna High Court’s October 19 order that granted Rocky Yadav bail, a top court bench of Justice SA Bobde and Justice Ashok Bhushan observed: “The chargesheet has already been filed in the case and this may go against you.” Already he along with another man has been named as an accused in the murder case and the Bihar government’s petition contended that “he has shot dead a young boy on the highway because he could not tolerate a small Swift car overtaking his big and imported Land Rover.”
