Genda Phool: Badshah lands into legal trouble for plagiarising this Bengali folk song

Recently a song has been doing rounds on social media as Jacqueline is taking all over the internet with her hotness. The peppy track has garnered over 50 million views on YouTube, it has now landed in legal trouble over plagiarism.

In the song there is a line of Bengali folk song “Borlok er Bitilo, lomba lomba chul…..lal genda phool”, which is from a Bengali folk song Borloker Bitilo.

The song is originally written by Ratan Kahar, has not been given any credit and this has violated the Indian Copyright Amendment Act 2012.

A Doctoral researcher from France, Arghya Bose, has written to West Bengal CM, Mamta Banerjee, “In the capacity of a common but responsible citizen of your state, Madam Chief Minister, I feel obliged and responsible to bring to your notice exploitation of the poor artists of the state of West Bengal at this level by apparently world-renowned artists. It is, indeed, the moral responsibility of the entire population of the state, and more so, the government of the state to protect the interests of the artistic communities of our country.”

She further added, “Your government has always shown sensitivity, empathy, and appreciativeness to the rich intellectual and cultural diversity of Bengal, which has been one of the many foundations of the popularity of your government. I write this mail to you hoping that you will be able to act in favor of Mr. Kahar in this regard, and obtain for him the intellectual and material remuneration that is due to him.”

The reaction of the makers is still awaited. Badshah’s hit song has become an instant hit among the youngsters and has crossed a mark of 63 million views in 5 days.
