Gents Alliance Program to Distribute Suits to Students: Three suits will be given to students in the Gents Alliance Program on Wednesday by Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia, D-Coachella, and OneFuture Coachella Valley.

Garcia said in a statement, “Too often, not dressing professionally gets in the way of education and job opportunities.” “Many young people in our community find it hard or impossible to own a suit.”

Garcia’s office at 48220 Jackson St., Suite A3, will start giving them out at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Garcia said that OneFuture Coachella Valley’s Gents Alliance Program works with local business, school, and community groups to create services and coordinate resources that will help more men succeed in college. The idea behind it was to help more guys in the area get into and finish college.

For the past few months, Garcia’s office has been gathering new and gently used clothes, as well as business items. The clothes are meant to help young men and women in Imperial County and the Coachella Valley.

Ernie Rios, Vice President of College Success for OneFuture Coachella Valley, said in a statement, “Unfortunately, some of our students don’t have the resources to buy the clothes they need for their transitions into the workforce.” “The donated suits will help male high school and college students get the clothes they need for job interviews and internships.”

OneFuture officials say that the Gents Alliance Program started in 2015 and is now running at several local high schools and College of the Desert.
