The Gujarat State Government has declared that the term exams for the final semester undergraduate students along with the second and fourth-semester postgraduate students will be conducted from June 25, 2020.

The government will release a new exam scheme called Merit-Based Progression for the students in case the situation is not back to normalcy across the state due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

According to the scheme, the undergraduate students other than the final semester candidates will be graded on the basis of their performance in the previous semester and internal exam marks. As per the notification released, the students can appear for the semester exams in the next term to improve their academic performance.

The examination will be held for a reduced duration of two hours despite the regular three-hour exam. In this case, it is required that the examinations will be conducted in multiple shifts.

The decision made by the state government is depended on the UGC recommendations which were announced in April 2020.
