A group of six men allegedly gangraped two teenage girls in front of their father in a moving SUV in Devgadh Baria tehsil of Gujarat’s Dahod district on Thursday. Five of the 13 people believed to be involved in the case have been detained, said police.
The accused Kumat Baria, Gopsinh Baria and others abducted both the minors along with their father from his shop in Bhutpagla village on Thursday. They allegedly took them into an SUV and raped the girls, police said.
Later, the accused dropped the two girls and their father near Mandav village. They also warned them not to approach the police, the FIR said. The girls were sent to a government hospital in Devgarh Baria for treatment.
Baria allegedly told the victims’ father that he wanted to take revenge as his son, who was detained in a prohibition case, told police he used to procure liquor from Kumat. The police had then filed a case against Kumat.
Five people including Kumat Baria, Ganpat Baria, Narvat Baria, Suresh Naik and Gopsinh Baria have been arrested in link with the incident. Hunt is on for the other accused, said sub-inspector DG Raval.
A case has been lodged against 13 people under section 376 (gangrape) and other sections of the IPC plus under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
