Battling all the obstacles, Hadiya has finally achieved her goal of becoming a doctor. In a recent Facebook post, Hadiya’s husband Shafin Jahan announced that his wife has now finally become a doctor and shared a photograph of his wife wearing a doctor coat with a stethoscope.
In the post, the husband wrote ‘‘This shining victory is an outstanding achievement because it comes at the end of countless prayers, relentless struggles of separation, love, patience and so on…Alhamdulillah! Finally, you reached an important destination out of all odds. Very proud to address you a Doctor.’’
Hadiya, the native of Vaikom in Kottayam was caught in a storm when she converted to Islam and Married Shafin Jahan in December 2016. Her parents approached the Kerala High Court complaining that she has been forcibly converted to Islam and would be recruited to the Islamic State in Syria.
Hadiya had been staying at her friend Jaseena’s place during she pursued graduation in homoeopathy medicine and surgery. His father’s complaint said that Jaseena’s father forced Hadiya into converting to Islam.
The Kerala High Court in May 2017 declared marriage of Hadiya and Jahan invalid and said that she was mentally indoctrinated. The court also ordered her to return to her parent’s home.
Then the Supreme Court in 2018 directed Hadiya to rejoin the college and continue her internship programme.
