After weeks of aggressive promotions, chartbuster songs and that usual strong audience anticipation, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has shown a decent Day 1. As per the early box office updates, the film collected approximately ₹11 crore nett in India on its opening day giving Bollywood yet another promising opener heading into 2026.

Competition at Box Office

These opening-day figures have kept Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai ahead of rival releases, including Bobby Deol’s crime drama Bandar which reportedly saw a comparatively slower start. Many people in the industry believe the film’s family-friendly vibe and mass-market comedy angle helped it rope in audiences across multiplexes as well as single-screen theatres.

Right now, trade analysts are keeping a close eye on how it does over the weekend because that will decide whether it can keep the pace and lock in a strong first week collection.

Advance Booking

The film had shown some encouraging signs even before release. Advance booking figures seemed to suggest healthy audience interest, with more than 80,000 tickets reportedly sold nationwide ahead of release before it even hit screens. Those advance sales created a solid pre-release buzz and mostly hinted at a strong opening.

There was also that nostalgic pull of a classic David Dhawan style comedy and Varun Dhawan’s popularity with younger crowds which really helped build the positive mood going into release.

Box Office Outlook

With the opening day collection reportedly touching ₹11 crore, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has laid a pretty firm groundwork for its theatrical run. Now the really important Sunday collections will decide if the film can cross the ₹35–40 crore mark during its opening weekend and whether it can settle in as one of the more notable Bollywood wins of 2026.
