Bollywood’s heartthrob Rani Mukherjee will turn a year older on March 21. In a career spanning for over more than a decade, she has become a top-notch actor. She belongs to a family of artists, with Tanuja Mukerji being her aunt, and Kajol and Ayan Mukerji her cousins.

From her debut film ‘Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat’, ‘Ghulam’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Black’ to ‘Mardaani’, time and again Rani has proved her versatility.

Just four months after her wedding with Yash Raj Films honcho Aditya Chopra in April 2014, Rani delivered the smash hit Mardaani, which was completely shouldered by her. She went on to take a sabbatical of almost four years to focus on motherhood, and made a successful comeback with Hichki in 2018.

On the occasion of Rani Mukherjee’s 43rd birthday, here are some powerful performances of the actor:

Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat:

Rani Mukherjee made her Bollywood debut with Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat back in 1997 and we all know that this movie was a little ahead of its time given the hullabaloo about women empowerment in the present day.

Black:

Rani delivered a terrific performance as a blind and deaf woman in Bhansali’s 2005 film Black. She not only won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress but also bagged the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress.

No One Killed Jessica:

The actor played a journalist in the movie No One Killed Jessica. She was portrayed as one of the most powerful journalists of India, who held a sting operation to reveal crucial information from eyewitnesses in the Jessica Lal murder case.

Mardaani 2:

Rani made her re-entry into Bollywood with cop drama Mardaani 2. She played the role of a police officer, who stands true to her ground and captures the criminal despite being served with transfer orders. She uses not just her power but also her brain to catch the criminal.

Hichki:

She went on to take a sabbatical of almost four years to focus on motherhood, and made a successful comeback with Hichki in 2018.
