Padmaavat open letter:
The actress wrote an open letter to Sanjay Leela Bhansali who directed Deepika Padukone starrer Padmaavat. She wrote in the letter she felt reduced to a vagina at the end of the film and criticised him for glorifying Jauhar. Her letter invited tons of reactions on social media with many people writing that there was no need of creating a controversy here.
Amazon India Controversy:
The actress amongst a number of Bollywood celebs who tweeted in support of the victims of Kathua and Unnao Rape cases and that they felt ashamed as Indians. Just a couple of days later, the actress tweeted, as part of a brand promotion, for Amazon India which invited the wrath of social media users. Amazon deleted the tweet while people went on to troll Swara.
Kangana Ranaut and Swara’s Twitter war:
While both these actresses are being very vocal and sharing their opinions on twitter, on the ongoing debate on farmers protest, this isn’t the first time between them. Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut ignited what turned into a war-of-words. With some direct digs and some cryptic ones, this started a social media war among them. In an exclusive interview Kangana Ranaut said that the ‘flagbearers of nepotism’ will ensure that ‘needy outsiders’ like Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhasker will challenge her views after the interview. Later, both the actors reacted to the statement through their social media which incited a response from Kangana’s team and ended up becoming a Twitter war.
Views on Pakistan:
During her film Veere di Wedding promotions, the actress slammed Pakistan and called it a failing state. The actress contradicted her own comments as in 2015 when she visited Pakistan, she said that it’s the best country she has ever visited and praised it on interviews there. Her comments invited wrath from both sides of the border.
